Veronica Isabel Dahlberg Executive Director and President of the Board
Veronica Isabel Dahlberg was born in Canton, Ohio, the daughter of Mexican and Hungarian immigrants. She is the Executive Director of HOLA Ohio, the organization she founded in 1999 to advocate for and empower Ohio's farmworkers, immigrants, and Latino families and children. For over 25 years, HOLA has been recognized for its groundbreaking advocacy on behalf of these communities.
In 2019, Veronica was recognized as a Woman of Note by Crain’s Cleveland Business.
Under her leadership, HOLA Ohio developed a new Hispanic Community Center in Painesville, a $2.1 million project that opened to the public on May 5, 2022.
In 2023, she received the "DIFF Maker" award from the Cleveland Cavaliers for her work with HOLA Ohio. That same year, in October, she was inducted into the Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame, a recognition of her commitment to justice and human rights.
In April 2024, she was inducted into the Cleveland International Hall of Fame, an honor that highlights her exceptional contributions and achievements. In October 2024, she also received the Reverend Vincent R. Miller Community Impact Award from the NAACP, which celebrates her outstanding work in advancing social justice and community well-being.
Currently, Veronica serves on the Affiliate Council of UnidosUS, the largest Hispanic civil rights organization in the country, where she was elected by her peers to represent the Midwest region spanning 12 states. She is also a member of the Lakeland Foundation Board of Directors and co-chairs the Community Advisory Board of the Community Translational Science Collaborative.
